Puerto Rican singer-songwriter Taisha Estrada brings the sounds of the Caribbean to the Creative Cauldron on her debut album (Nostalgia Ajena) release tour. Rooted in the traditions of Latin and American jazz, with an innovative, contemporary, multi-genre sound, Taisha engages audiences through compelling compositions and dynamic stage performance. Taisha was runner-up in the International Ella Fitzgerald Vocal Jazz Competition, and a featured Strathmore Artist-In-Residence performer. Originally from the DC area, they blend elements of country music, bluegrass, Western swing and jangle-pop. They have performed with many of the greats, including Emmylou Harris, Chet Atkins, David Bromberg, Charlie Byrd, Roger McGuinn, Dave Carter, Steve Earle, Danny Gatton, Doc Watson, Tom Paxton, Nanci Griffith and Mary Chapin Carpenter. Saturday, August 5 at 7:30 pm Fresh from a London performance at legendary Ronnie Scott's Club, virtuoso violinist Dave Kline is thrilled to return to the Creative Cauldron! His original compositions reflect a passion for World cultures and contemporary music including Funk, Rock, Blues, Americana, and Jazz. Dave has performed with jazz great Chick Corea, country legend Dwight Yoakum, Gypsy Jazz super star and Grammy winner Stephane Wrembel and Senator Tim Kaine. The Dave Kline band has performed at Strathmore Music Center, Blues Alley, Gypsy Sallys, The National Mall, local festivals and many other venues. Dave's most recent recording "Shifting Borders" was #1 for 16 weeks on Roots jazz charts. Dave is VERONNEAU's favorite and long time collaborator.
