Erin McKenney - Just Neighbors
Sally Diaz-Wells - Our Lady Queen of Peace

Sunday, April 27 at 2:00pm Post Show

Erin is a native of Kentucky and a graduate of Georgetown College (KY) with a degree in Marketing and Finance. She has lived in Northern Virginia since 1985. As Executive Director, Erin manages the business and development aspects of Just Neighbors. She also connects Just Neighbors to the community through churches, organizations, and individuals. Her mission trips through her church (Annandale UMC) have exposed her to a number of immigrants as well as her last job at Safe Haven, feeding the hungry and homeless. Her extensive travel to places like Mozambique, Brazil, Haiti, and other parts of the Caribbean and Central America has allowed her to see the conditions that cause people to emigrate. Erin finds the resilience of our clients and the passion of our staff, volunteers, and board as motivation to work for justice for so many immigrants who just need a hand up.

Just Neighbors mission is to provide high-quality immigration legal services to low-income immigrants, asylees and refugees in Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia; and, to build community among clients, staff, volunteers and the larger society through education, advocacy, and volunteerism.

Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church is dedicated to witnessing the teachings of Jesus Christ, especially the Gospel of Saint Matthew, Chapter 25:31-46. Our mission is to nurture the spirit and to encourage the potential of those we serve through liturgical celebration, educational endeavors and social justice ministries. The parish will continue to identify with its origin as a Black Catholic parish. As a diverse and multi-ethnic congregation we will seek to promote racial harmony and social justice. While our primary focus is within the immediate community, we will also work to provide for the well-being of the marginalized everywhere. In this we strive for our parish community to be a caring, sharing, and loving family.

Kenn Speicher - NOVA Friends of Refugees
& Congregation Action Network

Sunday, May 4 at 2:00pm Post Show

Kenn is a co-founder of NOVA Friends of Refugees, a grassroots interfaith network of more than 1,500 members that welcomes, assists, and advocates for refugees. He is an original organizer and serves on the Board of its sister organization, One Journey, a grassroots movement that celebrates refugee talents, stories, and contributions. In addition, Kenn leads advocacy efforts for the Northern Virginia Coalition for Refugee Wellness, is a voice for refugees on state advisory boards, and supports education projects in Haiti for Mount Olivet UMC.

NOVA Friends of Refugees is a growing network of people representing nearly 150 faith communities, NGOs, refugee communities, public agencies and officials, and businesses who are dedicated to welcoming refugees, creating welcoming communities, and raising awareness of the many ways refugees add to our culture, communities, and nation. We work on the front line of the welcoming movement.

Congregation Action Network (CAN) mobilizes people of faith and faith communities throughout the DC metro area to advocate and organize for immigration rights. Our goal is to ensure immigrants have access to housing, healthcare, education, food, and legal protections. We work closely with experienced immigration groups and listen to immigrants from our faith communities to create a safe, welcoming place for everyone, no matter where they're from.
