Creative Cauldron Stage and Falls Church Arts Host
President’s Day Falls Church 250 “Soap Box Conversation” “Freedom of Artistic Expression: Is it At Risk?” In a healthy democracy, artists play an essential role. In the words of Freidrich Schiller “Art is the daughter of freedom.” Art should hold a mirror up to society, or from the viewpoint of Bertolt Brecht, a hammer. As we cross the threshold of our 250th year as a democracy, Creative Cauldron and Falls Church Arts invite audiences to share their views in a “Soap Box Conversation” forum to be held on President’s Day, February 16 at 7:00 pm at Creative Cauldron Stage, 127 East Broad Street, Falls Church VA 22046 The “Soap Box Conversations” initiative was launched by the Falls Church 250 Committee, as one of a series of activities that encourage civic engagement and provide residents with the opportunity to share their voices. Each person who attends and wishes to speak will be given 3 minutes to address the topic and share their views about the topic. Civic rules of engagement will be followed. This event is FREE to members of the community. |
