Sean Heely's Celtic Experience

Veronneau's Passport to the World Fest Closing Party!
Saturday Feb 3 at 7:30pm Award-winning Quebecoise vocalist Lynn Veronneau and British guitarist Ken Avis close out the Passport festival with multi-lingual, original and classics from the world of jazz, bossa nova, chanson, swing and blues. 2023 was a bumper year for Veronneau, who headlined at the DC Jazz Festival, performed as Artists in Residence at DC's legendary Blues Alley, and marked up over 1 million Spotify listens of their version of the classic La Mer. Sunday Jan 7 at 2:00pm This DC based band led by Juan Cayrampoma brings the hunting sounds and mystic power from The Andes to the rest of the Americas and the world. RAYMI uses traditional instruments such as Zampoñas and Quenas while also exploring the possibilities that the bass, guitars and drums can have together with the Andes tradition. Goode"...the hits kept on coming. Featured pianist Daryl Davis has performed with Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, The Platters, The Drifters, The Coasters, Bo Diddley and many more. The Other Side of Nat King Cole

Her grandfather, Paulo Soledade composed with renowned Bossa Nova founders Antônio Carlos Jobim, Vinicius de Moraes, and others. Expect the unexpected, and the beautiful from this unique gathering of guitarists, songwriters, composers and innovators..Guitar Alchemy! Bobby Thompson is a blues-soul troubadour; a songwriter, vocalist and guitarist, performing on 1920's Weissenborn acoustic lap-steel guitar. Susan Alcorn is recognised as one of the world's premiere exponents of pedal steel guitar. Beyond her role in Asleep At The Wheel, Susan has taken the instrument far beyond its traditional role in country music. Cody Summit is an acoustic singer-songwriter who weaves an hypnotic spell with the contemporary and contemplative sound of his songs, performed on acoustic resonator guitars Ken Avis of world-jazz group Veronneau explores new sounds with fretless guitar and 12 string interpretations, as well as Brazilian guitar, blues and jazz. |

The Guitar Renegades - Guitar quintet with Cristian Perez, Jan Knutson, Parker Speirs, Tommy Holladay, and Connor Holdridge
Sunday Jan 21 at 7:30pm A brand new project featuring DC area's most exciting jazz guitar soloists performing as a quintet. You've seen Cristian Perez (Project Locrea), Jan Knutson (The Great Guitars), and Connor Holdridge (Hot Club of Baltimore), at previous Passport To the World Festival events. Four of the five musicians have been chosen for the prestigious Strathmore Artist in Residence program. The Guitar Renegades are a guitar super-group, jazz influenced but pushing the boundaries of the genre, in exciting and entertaining new ways. Some of the rep will include: Bach, The Beatles, Nirvana, Charlie Parker, and more. |

Iona "Celtic Traditions"

Founded by lead singer, bouzouki, guitar and bodhrán player Barbara Ryan and Bernard Argent; and featuring percussive dancer and singer Marsha Searle, of Footworks Percussive Dance Ensemble, the band perform a unique, acoustic weave of the traditional music of Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Cornwall, Brittany (France), the Isle of Man, Asturies and Galicia (Spain), as well as their transplants in America.
