Summer Cabaret and Concert Series returns live and outdoors in Cherry Hill Park. Featuring musical theater favorites and concerts with some of the DMV's most celebrated bands, it's a line up of WAMMIE-winners and Helen Hayes Award winners and nominees. Come celebrate the return of live music with us in Cherry Hill Park every Friday and Saturday this summer. Bring a picnic to enjoy before hand!

Dong Xi, the winner of Best World Music Artist /Group of WAMMIE (2020) and nominator of Outstanding Sound Design of Helen Hayes Award (2020), is honored to bring the audience to a new sound world with their bi-lingual music. The name Dong Xi can be translated in “East and West”. It is a collaboration between world percussionist Tom Teasley and Yang Qin (Chinese dulcimer) virtuoso Chao Tian. Their sound is a merging of world rhythms with the elegance of Chinese folk and classical music. Tom Teasley combines global percussions from Africa, India, Middle-East, Brazil, and Cuba with American jazz. Chao Tian performs with techniques that combines her traditional Chinese music background with reminiscent of the Persian Santoor, American dulcimer, and even slide guitar. Their music is completely improvised, thus creating a dialog between east and west using music to express what words cannot express. They are joined by Shu-Chen Cuff the Founder of the critically acclaimed Gin Dance Company. Each of GDC's works reflects Shu-Chen's rich Asian Dance heritage and Eastern philosophy blended with Western fluidity of movement and culture that touch the soul through visuals arts and movement. |

This band is everywhere, from festival stage to local clubs and restaurants, plus airplay on Bluegrass Country Radio, The Bluegrass Jamboree, and WAMU's Open Mic Program, and perform regularly in the D.C. Metropolitan area. They were also recently named as a Wammie (Washington Area Music Award) 2021 finalist for best bluegrass band, and were also nominated as finalists in 2020. Katy Benko made her Creative Cauldron debut as 'Patsy Cline' in the highly successful run of "Always, Patsy Cline" this past June. A two-time World Champion Vocalist at the World Championships of Performing Arts and a two-time Wammie Award winner, Katy's roots are deep in country and rock, having opened for and performed with artists such as Glen Campbell, Kenny Rogers, Toby Keith, Brad Paisley, and Alan Jackson. She has also established herself on the local Musical Theatre scene (a long time passion) and she looks forward to taking audience members on a beautiful and dynamic musical journey that spans many genres and decades.

This DC based band led by Juan Cayrampoma brings the haunting sounds and mystic power from The Andes to the rest of the Americas and the world. Erin is a National Young Arts Foundation Award winner, most recently seen at Creative Cauldron as Louise Seger in 2021's outdoor Always...Patsy Cline and in the Helen Hayes Award nominated ensemble of On Air as the wife of Dr. Harry P. Davis, Agnes Davis/Ensemble. Granfield also performed at Creative Cauldron in the 2019 Holiday Cabaret Series and as Elmira in Nevermore. She also played the role of Francesca Johnson to critical acclaim in the DC/Baltimore regional premiere of The Bridges of Madison County (Red Branch Theatre). Her original cabaret will include stories from her life on the stage and her favorite songs from the musical theater canon, standards, and a few hidden gems.
