Originally scheduled to open in March, our Creative Team and Learning Theater performers turned to the digital world to create this 21st century twist on one of the most well-known fairytales of all time.  Featuring original music by Matt Conner and Stephen Gregory Smith and stunning visual editing by Margie Jervis and Jessi Shull, and a witty script by Ellen Selby, this production is sure to bring enchantment.

Deep in the woods of imagination, we encounter myth and mystery in a magical place filled with talking fish, industrious elves, an evil witch, and a merry band of musicians.  Creative Cauldron’s Learning Theater team tackles classic Grimm tales with humor and whimsy.
Recorded over zoom and on location in…where else?....the woods. This highly theatrical movie edition is sure to charm audiences of all ages.

Difficult Conversations:
​Bridging the Divide
April 9 - 24 2021

​In this challenging time of division and conflict, Creative Cauldron looks to writers in the DMV for inspiration and healing.  Each writer featured in this series will pen a 10-minute, two- character play about a difficult conversation, mining issues of race, gender identity, politics or religion.  Writers will be asked to also write a 10-minute companion piece, re-envisioning the conversation as they would like it to happen.  A facilitated  post-performance discussion will help us reflect on how we navigate the difficult terrain that has become our divided nation and community.

 On Air premiered at Creative Cauldron in 2019 as part of our "Bold New Works" original musicals written by Matt Conner and Stephen Gregory Smith. To celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the birth of radio, our creative team has transformed it into a radio play!  We're going back to where it all began - Frank and Flora Conrad's garage in Pittsburg, PA.  and the first mass radio broadcast that lead to the formation of the first radio station KDKA.

Creative Cauldron’s annual Passport series curated by Ken Avis and Lynn Veronneau of the WAMMIE-award winning group Veronneau,
has become one of the most popular offerings in the season.  This live streamed series will bring you scintillating performances by traditional music along with fusion bands and contemporary artists that draw inspiration from world music.  Journey the world without ever leaving home!

​Patsy Cline

Outdoors in the park! Created and Originally Directed by Ted Swindley and based on a true story.
This theatrical gem follows the legendary country singer Patsy Cline's unlikely friendship with Louise Seeger, a fan from Houston.  Always Patsy Cline delivers up lots of down home country humor, true emotion, and even some audience participation. Fans will be treated to 27 of Patsy’s heartfelt songs including unforgettable hits such as Crazy,
I Fall to Pieces, Sweet Dreams, and Walking After Midnight.

Holiday Cabaret Series

  It’s a season of light and it's time to light up our stage and our hearts as only the Holiday season can do. The cauldron has been transformed into a live-streaming studio where you can enjoy some of your favorite  holiday music. The Princess and
​the Pea
Streaming Summer 2021


An unhappy prince needs something to fill his vapid life.  The court jester suggests a hamster. His parents think it’s time to find a royal wife.  A procession of vain, dimwitted, bad-tempered princesses come to vie for the position.  When a young maiden arrives seeking shelter from a storm, the prince is smitten, but the Queen insists she must pass a test to prove she is worthy. This classic tale, clearly demonstrates that  that true royalty lies in humility.

Bold New Musical
Voices Festival
May 6 - 8 2021

​Building on the success of our five year “Bold New Musicals for Intimate Stages” Initiative, with Matt Conner and Stephen Gregory Smith, Creative Cauldron offers a series of live-streamed, professionally staged readings of new musicals written by women or women-identifying writers and composers. Audiences will play a critical role in shaping these new works by giving their feedback to writers after the readings.  One of these exciting new musicals will be chosen for a full production in the 2020-21 season.
